On September 6, 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the Island of Sint Maarten with winds in excess of a hundred and eighty miles an hour, causing unimaginable devastation to property and consequently to their main industry – tourism. Many families were left homeless and without a source of income.
Although, it is incredible how far the rebuilding and clean-up have come, there are still many people that are homeless or struggling to survive due to having lost everything in the storm. Coach Tom (as he is affectionately known on the island), is a local hero that assists children that are struggling in school or families that cannot afford after-school care. He provides a location for kids to come to work on homework, have a meal and get some support.
Coach Tom has indicated that there is a significant need for children’s clothing on the island, and as such, through the Ceco National Builder Meeting this year, we would like to sponsor a clothing drive.
We request that you bring to Sint Maarten new or gently used boys’ or girls’ clothes (ages 4-16), to be donated to Coach Tom to distribute to local families. We will have a collection table at registration (on arrival) and at the vendor show to collect your donated items. Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
